Poultry that stays juicy

Chicken and turkey do well in an air fryer, because the dry heat crisps the skin or coating while the meat stays moist. Chicken thighs and chicken wings cook at 400 °F and have crisp skin, while chicken breast cooks at 375 °F and benefits from an even thickness. Pound thick breasts lightly or slice them into cutlets for faster, more even cooking.

Breaded, bite-size and whole birds

Chicken tenders and chicken nuggets need a light spray of oil on the breading to brown. For holiday meals, a turkey breast cooks at 350 °F, and a whole chicken fits in most larger baskets.

Poultry is safe at 165 °F in the thickest part, so use an instant-read thermometer and avoid cutting into the meat to check. Rest the meat for a few minutes before serving. For other cuts and frozen poultry, see the air fryer cooking times chart.
