Why cook with an air fryer?
Lighter cooking
An air fryer cooks with hot circulating air, so you can use much less oil, or none at all. Food still comes out crisp on the outside.
Fast and simple
The basket heats up in a couple of minutes, and most dishes are done sooner than in a full-size oven. Set the temperature and time, then let the machine work.
Less mess
Less oil means less grease to wipe up, and most air fryers have removable parts that go straight into the sink or dishwasher.

Air fryer questions
Short answers to the questions readers ask most often about cooking in an air fryer.
Are all the recipes free?
Yes. Every recipe on the site is free and does not require a login or sign-up. The site is supported by advertising.
What temperature should I use in an air fryer?
Most foods cook at 350–400 °F. Chicken and meat usually go in at 375–400 °F, frozen fries and vegetables that should turn crisp at 400 °F, and baked goods at 300–325 °F. The air fryer cooking times chart lists times and temperatures for common foods.
Can I use regular oven recipes in my air fryer?
Most of them, yes. Lower the oven temperature by about 25 °F and shorten the cooking time by roughly 20 percent, then check the food a few minutes early because air fryers differ in wattage and basket size.
How do I keep food from drying out in the air fryer?
Do not overfill the basket, so the air can circulate, and use an instant-read thermometer for meat, poultry and fish. Take the food out as soon as it reaches the safe internal temperature, and let meat rest for a few minutes before cutting.
Do I need to preheat the air fryer?
It helps for anything that should brown quickly, such as chicken wings, steaks or french fries. Three to five minutes at the recipe temperature is enough. Some models preheat on their own, so check your manual.
How do I clean an air fryer?
Let the basket cool, then wash it and the tray in warm soapy water after each use. Use a soft sponge so the nonstick coating is not scratched, and wipe the heating element with a damp cloth once the machine is cold and unplugged.
